The Arts and Humanities Institute invites applications for experienced Technical Officers to join a research team to support the development of the Institute’s Digital Humanities Consultancy work, and providing technical support for our competitively funded Digital Humanities (DH) research projects and our research strength members. The successful candidate will be committed to strengthening the Faculty’s research and consultancy profile, further enhancing the Institute’s digital humanities reputation and building income streams.

This is an exciting role. The Institute is an interdisciplinary work environment. The successful candidate will support the digital research and technical development of the Institute and the funded research projects it houses. The Senior technical Officer will assist existing funded research projects in realising their DH ambitions and collaborate with Faculty researchers in the design and implementation of future research projects, particularly those with a strong DH dimension. The Institute has recently acquired a new Digital Humanities Creative Media Lab and spectrometer, and the successful candidate will mobilise these resources in consultancy work across Europe.

Salary Scale:

Senior Technical Officer (2025):?€61,697 – €74,156 p.a. (8 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.

About You

The Research Assistant/Research Fellow will undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy. It is expected that the Research Assistant will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop.

The Research Assistant/Research Fellow will work within a collaborative project addressing the atomic origin of imperfections within Josephson junctions and the ramifications for quantum computing. This work is part of a multi-institution project involving RMIT, Rigetti Computing, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, University of Virginia, University of Connecticut. They will be required to perform computational and theoretical analysis using a range of techniques, as well as collaborating with the other members of the wider project team.

To be successful in this position, you will have:


	PhD qualification in the relevant discipline area, such as computational/theoretical physics or chemistry, or applied mathematics.
	Demonstrated evidence of computational modelling experience, including code development and data analysis.
	Ideally experience using one or more of the following:
	
		Molecular dynamics packages such as LAMMPS
		Empirical force field techniques such as ReaxFF, MACE etc.
		Phase-field modelling techniques
	
	
	Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field.
	Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.
	Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
	Demonstrated high level of communication skills.

The post holder will provide high-quality and comprehensive administrative, budgetary, and research project support to the School of Global Affairs. The appointee will work closely with academics and researchers to support the day-to-day administration of awards, funded by the European Commission, UKRI, and UK based charities. As a busy and successful research team, the role would be suited to someone who can manage multiple competing priorities, has good attention to detail, and can build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including colleagues in Finance, Human Resources, and the Research Management & Innovation Directorate (RMID). The post holder will be able to work as part of King’s hybrid working model, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office (Strand Campus). This is a full time post for three years and you will be offered a fixed term contract.

	Experience of managing grants or large-scale projects within HEI (or relevant sector) and a strong understanding of the research funding landscape

The positions are open to talented individuals who hold a doctorate in physics or a closely related field and have excellent potential for a productive scientific career. We are looking for highly qualified experts who have demonstrated outstanding research in one of two key areas the department wishes to develop:


	Condensed matter, including quantum, magnetic and photonic materials.
	Soft materials, including active and living matter.


We are open to a wide variety of computational methodologies, including atomistic, molecular and mesoscale level particle-based techniques, continuum modeling, statistical approaches and machine learning. The successful candidates are expected to lead an outstanding independent research program that complements and extends the existing research efforts at the Department of Applied Physics and can utilize local computational infrastructure. The nominated candidates are expected to take responsibility for education in this field at Aalto University. We are seeking to appoint a full time Academic – Lead, Student Development and Wellbeing. The Person

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in medicine, psychology, or an allied health field, with experience in research and/or delivering high-quality education in a medical or health-related tertiary environment. They will have specialist knowledge or experience in wellbeing and mental health, ideally with students, young people, or health professionals.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to lead, coordinate, and deliver research, education, or training programs, and have experience in program development and implementation. Strong administrative and management skills, including leading teams, meeting deadlines, and achieving goals, are essential.

A proven track record in health research or scholarship, experience supervising research students, and a collegial, collaborative approach are also required.

The School/Department

The School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP) was established in 2023 to bring together expertise from Medicine and Psychology to develop a unique educational and research environment. The focus is to produce psychologists, researchers, and medical graduates who practice compassion, conscience and professional excellence, and with a knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culture. The school partners with a number of healthcare organisations to deliver teaching and training including but not limited to ACT Health, community practices throughout the ACT and Southeastern NSW.
