Shirak State University is a public university located in Gyumri, the capital of Shirak Province in Armenia.
Founded in 1934 as a pedagogical institute, the university was originally a branch of the Armenian State Pedagogical University. It became an independent higher education institution in 1966 and was restructured as Shirak State University in 2016. Over its history, the university has produced around 80,000 graduates.
The university serves approximately 6,000 students across seven faculties, including physics, mathematics and economics; history and philology; biology and geography; foreign languages; pedagogy; physical and preliminary military training; and philosophy and social sciences. It offers a wide range of bachelor’s and master’s programmes.
The campus is located on Paruyr Sevak Street in the Ani district of Gyumri.

Duties and Responsibilities

To conduct research on the numerical modeling of giant-planet magnetospheres, with a primary emphasis on Jupiter’s magnetosphere–ionosphere system. The successful candidate will lead and analyze global magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations of solar wind–magnetosphere–ionosphere coupling, perform data–model comparisons, and collaborate closely with Prof. Binzheng Zhang and other DEPS researchers.

Requirements


	a Ph.D. degree in space physics, magnetospheric physics, or a closely related field
	demonstrated expertise in global MHD simulations of planetary magnetospheres; candidates with direct experience modeling Jupiter’s magnetosphere–ionosphere system are strongly preferred
	experience working with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and large-scale numerical codes for space plasmas; proficiency with scientific programming (e.g., Fortran/C/C++/Python) and Linux is an advantage
	Experience with data–model comparisons (e.g., Juno, Galileo) is desirable
	possess a good command of written and spoken English

	Contribute strategic input into demonstrations of productivities, outcomes and impact of research enabled by national research data infrastructure.
	Commission, write, or advise on position statements and submissions on matters of national Policy and national interest
	Plan, design and assist with national symposiums and forums
