National Institute of Technology Meghalaya was established in 2010 under the NIT Act 2007 (amended 2012) and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance. It is fully funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and is located in Sohra (Cherrapunjee), East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya.
The institute offers bachelor of technology degrees in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and civil engineering.?
Admission is based on national entrance exams and counselling.?
Postgraduate programmes include master of technology degrees in civil, computer science, electronics and communication, electrical and mechanical engineering. Master of science courses are available in physics, chemistry and mathematics. Doctoral research programmes cover science, engineering and interdisciplinary fields.
NIT Meghalaya’s permanent campus includes academic buildings, student hostels, faculty residences, an e-library, research laboratories and sporting and cultural facilities. The institute has international partnerships with universities in Europe and Asia, supporting student exchanges, internships and research events.?

About the Position

The College of Business, Government and Law is seeking a motivated Research Associate in Criminology to join our world-class Criminology team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an innovative, high-impact research program that aims to transform offender rehabilitation by developing and embedding a strengths-based desistance approach across all NSW public prisons.

As a Research Associate in Criminology, you will:


	Lead and contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of the Industry Laureate research program, including data collection and analysis, literature review, and reporting to achieve key project milestones.
	Collaborate with the research team, postgraduate students, industry partners and Corrective Services NSW, to ensure ethical, high-quality, and impactful research outcomes.
	Disseminate research findings through publications, reports, and presentations, and actively build national and international collaborations that enhance the project’s reach and influence.


About You:

You will be an emerging academic in criminology or a closely related field with a passion for applied research that delivers real-world impact in the criminal justice system. You bring strong critical thinking skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including justice professionals, correctional agencies, and academic colleagues, to generate meaningful change through research.

In this position, you will demonstrate:


	Completion or near competition of a PhD in Criminology or a closely related field.

The number theory group at King’s currently consists of David Burns, Lassina Dembélé, Fred Diamond, Netan Dogra, Andrea Dotto, Natalie Evans, Peter Jossen, Asuka Kumon, Payman L Kassaei, Steve Lester, Rachel Newton, Owen Patashnick, Beth Romano and Igor Wigman, as well as several postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.?

About the role

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate to work with Rachel Newton on the UKRI-funded project ‘Diophantine equations and local-global principles: into the wild’. The post is available for two years, starting on 1st September 2026.

The project spans several topics including Brauer groups, Brauer–Manin obstructions, and the frequency of failure of local-global principles in families of varieties and number fields. It also includes applications of p-adic geometry to the study of Brauer–Manin obstructions and rational points on varieties.

The postdoctoral research associate will contribute to appropriate strands of the project according to their background and interests. Those interests may be in arithmetic geometry, arithmetic statistics and/or analytic number theory.
