Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (Makaut, WB), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology, was founded in 2001 by the state of West Bengal. The public technical university provides degrees in management, engineering and other subjects through affiliated colleges and in-house departments on its campus in Haringhata, West Bengal.
It offers 75 undergraduate and 100 postgraduate courses in a variety of subjects in science, technology, pharmacy, architecture, management and interdisciplinary areas through its schools of biological science and technology; computer science and engineering; information science and technology; engineering science and technology; energy and environmental engineering; management science; applied science and technology; food science and agricultural technology; pharmaceutical science and healthcare technology; humanities and social sciences; media science and entertainment; and planning and architecture design.
The university is affiliated with about 200 institutions spread over 15 districts of West Bengal. Postgraduate study is carried out in 30 of them.
Makaut, WB works with partners in industry and in other institutions of higher learning. It has collaborations with a variety of national and international research institutes.
