About Corban University

Basic information and contact details for Corban University

institution

Corban University is a private institution in Salem, Oregon¡¯s capital.

Founded in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1935, it has moved state twice in its history. First, it relocated to California¡¯s Bay Area, initially Oakland, and then El Cerrito, eight miles north. CU completed its move to Oregon in 1969, acquiring 100 acres of land in Salem. The campus has since grown by more than 40 acres. It was known as Western Baptist College between 1973 and 2005, when it became Corban University.

Awash with parks and shops, its metropolitan area¡¯s population surpassed 400,000 in 2013, but Salem retains a small-town feel. The Willamette River passes through the middle of the city, which is home to a number of microbreweries and vineyards. The campus is 50 miles south of Portland, the state¡¯s largest city, which is accessible from Salem by bus or train.

Marketing, theology, business and education are among Corban¡¯s most popular degree programmes.

There are six halls of residence, which first and second-year students are required to live in unless married or over the age of 21. Chapel is held three times a week, and students head to the coast to pray together at the Breakaway Retreat each year.

It has around 15 study abroad locations across the world, while its students can also undertake summer courses at one of 100-plus campuses across the US through the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.
