Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) was founded with the aim of providing a centre for modern higher education based on Islamic principles and values. It was established as a university in 2006.?
The main campus site is in Kuala Lumpur, but the institution also has a strong online programme to serve students worldwide.?
The university has faculties of Islamic sciences, language, finance and administrative sciences, computer and information technology, and education. With about 100 teaching staff, the university offers more than 40 academic programmes in various disciplines and fields.
MEDIU offers undergraduate degrees in the arts and humanities (focused on Islamic sciences, languages and teaching); business and management; engineering; and technology (focused on computer sciences and information technology).
At the postgraduate level, there are master’s programmes in Islamic studies, languages and literature, business and administration, engineering and technology, and education. Students can also pursue PhDs in Islamic studies, languages, business and management, economics, ICT, and education.

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme team has an exciting opportunity available for an individual with lived experience of mental health issues or as a carer for someone to mental health support needs, to become chair of our Service user and Carer advisory committee. The post’s commitment is one day a week which could be for one day or divided into two half days. Our core team day is a Tuesday, so some of the working week will need to occur on this day with flexibility available for the other half day. The postholder will be required to attend the University campus in Guildford. Hybrid working is possible across the rest of the week.?

The programme has seen an expansion in training places over the past few years, due to increased funding from NHS England. The post therefore, offers a unique opportunity to join the team at a time of growth and innovation. The post-holder will work in close partnership with the academic team to support the delivery of the academic and research components of the programme and facilitate the annual recruitment of trainee clinical psychologists. The post holder will also be expected to link with local Public and Patient Involvement groups, and the Psychological Professions network to support the delivery of their work.

We welcome applications from a variety of backgrounds. Having an undergraduate, master's, or doctoral qualification will be an advantage, as the post holder will be arranging meetings to support trainees with their research development. Additionally, having previous experience of working in complex organisations and communicating with a variety of audiences will be helpful in the role. Successful applicants will be required to work as a member of a team, communicate with colleagues, deliver academic teaching across the life span and utilise a variety of theoretical and psychotherapeutic knowledge bases. They will also need to be passionate about supporting the development of trainee clinical psychologists to enable them to become confident and competent as culturally attuned practitioners.?

The programme sits within the Discipline of Clinical and Health Psychology, within the School of Psychology. The school of psychology has an outstanding reputation for applied psychology training and research. What will you be doing?

You’ll play a key role in supporting our digital operation resources, in particular our research grant application system used by the NIHR CC and HEI. You will provide frontline technical support, maintain and test application functionality and contribute to continuous improvement. Playing a key part in our service delivery team, ensuring our digital platforms run smoothly and meet user needs.

Key responsibilities include:


	Collaborate with our users and third-party suppliers to design & document solutions to facilitate the provision of research grant activities. This will involve analysis, testing, configuration, and maintenance of applications in support of these research activities.?
	Provide frontline support, managing incidents to resolution or referral whilst keeping detailed logs of incidents in our support systems.
	Working with colleagues to deliver innovative solutions that support our research goals.
	Ensure our services are user-focused, reliable, and aligned with evolving research needs.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a strong interest in research, experience in research management and excellent communication and organisation skills to join the Centre for Affective Disorders (CfAD).

The postholder will be responsible for coordinating research operations across a diverse portfolio of projects, including trials involving pharmacological, psychological, digital, and device-based interventions, as well as non-interventional studies. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: research administration, resource coordination and active cross-team communication to ensure timely and effective delivery of projects.

The postholder will be supervised by Dr Viktoriya Nikolova and will work closely with Dr Rebecca Strawbridge and Professors Allan Young & Anthony Cleare, other members of CfAD and in collaboration with other departments at KCL.

The post will be offered on a full-time basis until?30-Nov-2026.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	HNC, A level, NVQ 3, HND level or equivalent with relevant vocational experience
	Experience providing administrative and operational support for research activities, preferably in an academic environment in the UK
	Familiarity with research governance procedures in the UK
	Excellent IT and numeracy skills, including experience with data management
	Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) demonstrated through report writing and presentations
	Strong attention to detail and ability to work on own initiative
	Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet competing deadlines


Desirable criteria


	Good first degree in relevant subject and evidence of continued professional and educational development in relevant area
	Familiarity with research funding processes
	Awareness of project and finance management systems (e.g. King’s Worktribe, Business World) or equivalent
	Demonstrable interest in mental health research or mood disorders either through study or work experience
