There could be a long wait before the Commons select committee on education and employment is reconstituted. Commons committees looking at sleaze and reform of the House will be given priority. The committees will be appointed in proportion to the overall political membership of the House. If the education and employment committee were to be reappointed at its pre-election strength of 13, Labour would have eight or nine members, the Conservatives three or four and other parties including the Liberals one or two.
