These enthralling pictures were among those showcasing the photographic talents of students in East Asian studies at the University of Leeds. More than 250 entries to the "Eye on Asia" photographic competition covered subjects ranging from a goat herder in China to a dancing monk in Tibet. Ben Wainwright, a joint honours degree student in Chinese and English, won first prize for his image of the mountainous landscape at Huangshan, China.
