Debt looms more than ever for medics, warns BMA

Medical students graduate with an average debt of almost Pounds 8,000, according to the British Medical Association. In future years, it added, medics' financial problems will be compounded since they must pay tuition fees for four years whereas other students complete their degrees in three years. Moreover, the long academic year in medicine means that students are less likely to finance their studies through holiday work, the BMA said.
