The General Dental Council, responsible for laying down basic requirements of undergraduate dental degrees, has completely rewritten its requirements for dental schools. Its report stresses that developing the right attitudes will be as important as acquiring knowledge. A section on team dentistry emphasises the need for close working relationships with dental nurses and other auxiliary staff, while the ethical basis of dental care is more strongly featured.
