About the Role?

We have an exciting opportunity within the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work as the Associate Lecturer in Social Work (Teaching Specialist (Academic)). As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for contributing to the preparation and delivery of the College’s Social Work topics using innovative and contemporary teaching practices and technologies, with support and guidance from a more senior academic.

This position will also be involved in field education ensuring integration of curriculum (practice skills), and continuous review and improvement according to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) standards.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position include:


	Create, coordinate and conduct lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and assess students enrolled in Social Work topics of the College.
	Contribute to the field education topics across the discipline.
	Contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics.
	Assist in the development of topic and course materials with appropriate guidance from Course Coordinators and/or Senior Academic Staff.
	Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development and career opportunities.
	Make effective use of innovations and technologies in teaching practice.
	Maintain professional knowledge relevant to teaching within their discipline through scholarship and professional development.

About You?

To be successful, you will have completed a Bachelor of Social Work and/or a Master of Social Work (qualifying) degree, or equivalent qualification and experience in an area relevant to Social Work. You will also have eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and post- qualifying practice experience.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:


	Demonstrated evidence of making a contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching at the discipline level, including involvement in curriculum development and teaching methodology.
	Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with staff and students.
	Demonstrated experience applying innovative approaches to pedagogy and/or curriculum design.

The Research School of Biology is a leading centre of biological research in Australia. Researchers have a tradition of excellence in addressing the world’s most pressing issues in plant science and food security, through world-leading efforts in plant molecular biology, plant synthetic biology, and crop genetic transformation.

The ANU Plant SynBio Facility is located within the Research School of Biology. Funded by Bioplatforms Australia (BPA), Plant SynBio Australia (PSBA) is a new national network comprised of Bioplatforms Australia, the Australian National University, University of Adelaide and La Trobe University.

Plant SynBio Australia is seeking to change the plant synthetic biology landscape for Australia by developing and applying new technologies to fields where they are currently not in routine use. It will seed new Australian bioindustries, ensure Australia is completive globally in the rapidly changing bio-economy, and will accelerate plant/agriculture research translation from the bench and glasshouse to the field and society.??

This is a key role for an emerging or experienced technician to work as part of the Plant SynBio Facility, within the Research School of Biology. The successful candidate will undertake a range of activities related to gene editing, crop transformation and synthetic biology, and ensure a safe working environment for all users and visitors to the facility.

The Person 

We are looking for a candidate with a relevant Degree, Diploma, Trade Certificate II or III, with relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in laboratories used in gene editing, crop transformation and synthetic biology.?
