The university's main campus is located in Tehran's western district, while the additional campuses are located in the cities of Isfahan, Rasht, Hamedan, Tehran and Kashmar. The university campuses host different amenities ranging from spacious classrooms to recreational facilities.

The UM6P Vanguard Center & UM6P’s School of Applied Sciences & Engineering are recruiting a Scientist in Cyber-Physical Systems and Digital Twins?to lead technology-driven projects within the?Wicked Problems (WiP)?learning framework. This role bridges physical systems and their digital counterparts, focusing on the design, simulation, and real-time control of interconnected smart systems in domains such as manufacturing, energy, mobility, health, and agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:


	Mentor student teams in the design and implementation of cyber-physical systems (CPS) integrating sensors, actuators, control algorithms, and embedded systems.
	Guide the development and deployment of digital twins for real-world processes and infrastructures (e.g., factories, greenhouses, robotics platforms).
	Support modeling, simulation, and data-driven optimization using tools such as ROS, Unity, Modelica, Simulink, and SCADA platforms.
	Collaborate with faculty and industrial partners to create prototyping kits, demonstrators, and hybrid (hardware-in-the-loop) systems for education and applied research.
	Ensure integration with operational technologies (OT) such as edge computing, PLCs, industrial protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus), and digital platforms.
	Co-author technical reports and academic publications emerging from student-led and co-supervised projects.
	Publish research and co-author student-led publications resulting from WiP investigations.
	Contribute to applied research motivated by the WiP investigations.


Required Qualifications:


	Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Robotics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
	Proven experience with cyber-physical systems design, real-time control, and digital twin development.
	Proficiency in C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, and relevant CPS software frameworks (e.g., ROS, Unity, SCADA).
	Understanding of embedded systems, communication protocols, and systems integration.
	Strong interest in student mentorship and interdisciplinary, applied learning environments.


Desirable Qualifications (at least two of the following):


	Experience with edge/cloud computing platforms for industrial or IoT-based systems.
	Familiarity with simulation-to-hardware pipelines, predictive maintenance, or hybrid modeling.
	Background in smart agriculture, mobile robotics, or automated manufacturing systems.
	Engagement with open-source ecosystems and development of reusable CPS modules or demonstrators.

The Physical Science Data Infrastructure (PSDI) initiative is an EPSRC funded large scale infrastructure project. PSDI aims to enable researchers in physical sciences to handle data more easily by connecting and enhancing the different data infrastructures they use. Through PSDI researchers will be able to:


	Find and Access reference quality data from commercial and open sources
	Combine data from different sources
	Share data, software and models including experimental and simulation data
	Deploy close-to-data computation and containerisation of data and software
	Use AI to explore data
	Make the results of their research open and FAIR


We are looking for an enthusiastic coordinator of our partners and sub-projects with a background in the physical sciences and excellent communication skills to join our team and support the day-to-day running of PSDIs activities. The key aspects of this role will be to serve as the primary point of contact for our growing community of project partners and undertake event coordination and project tracking to ensure that we meet our deliverables accurately and in a timely fashion.

Applicants must hold a PhD, or possess equivalent professional qualifications or experience in the physical sciences. They should be able to demonstrate substantial, authoritative practical knowledge in the physical sciences, alongside excellent communication skills.

In addition, applicants must have significant experience in working within the physical sciences, in addition to demonstrable experience in organising events and a proven track record of project management and stakeholder/partner liaison.

You will make a valuable contribution to PSDI’s goals, making contributions from research to user engagement and have the potential to grow your own areas of expertise. There will be opportunities to develop skills to advance your career and build on skills outside of project and event coordination, such as scientific communication and involvement in coordinating our research projects e.g. around Electronic Lab Notebooks.

The position is offered as a full-time post with a permanent contract, contingent upon ongoing funding of PSDI (which is currently guaranteed until 31st March 2026) The post is based at the University of Southampton in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, in the School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering.?

About the opportunity

This Clinical Trial Midwife is responsible for supporting the conduct of clinical research projects in the field of extreme heat and child and maternal health. This position will be based in the Thermal Ergonomics Laboratory which is housed in the Heat and Health Research Centre at The University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus.

We are seeking a candidate to support the clinical trial process, from planning to execution, ensuring a seamless transition through all stages. The candidate will handle data capture, verification, and overall adherence to standards while fostering relationships with research staff and stakeholders. The candidate will ensure Good Clinical Practice and that every aspect of the trial meets the highest ethical and scientific standards.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	support the end-to-end clinical trial process, assisting with the planning, initiation, and execution of trials, and ensuring smooth operations from start-up to close-out
	support data capture and verification for clinical trials, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulations
	build productive relationships with research and professional staff, , facilitating effective communication and collaboration
	uphold the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in all clinical trials, ensuring that ethical and scientific quality standards are met in design, conduct, recording, and reporting
	champion a proactive approach to health and safety, review and provide feedback on work area protocols, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent safety standards across tasks and projects.

The successful candidate will be involved in interdisciplinary research at the interface of biomaterials engineering, regenerative medicine, and biosensors, under the supervision of Prof. Hala Zreiqat and A/Prof Khoon Lim.

This hands-on research role provides substantial intellectual freedom. In this role you will lead the development of advanced osteochondral organoid models, employing cutting-edge bioceramic 3D printing technologies for bone tissue fabrication and dynamic hydrogels for cartilage engineering. You will also integrate biosensor technologies for real-time monitoring of tissue development. Opportunities will include student supervision, industry collaboration, grant development, and initiating novel research directions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	conduct high-quality research independently and collaboratively to advance the osteochondral organoid platform
	design and fabricate biomaterials and organoid models relevant to aged or diseased tissues
	characterise biomaterials and organoids using advanced imaging, biochemical assays, and biosensing techniques
	publish research outcomes in leading international journals
	write competitive grant applications
	present findings at national and international conferences
	supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students
	engage proactively with industry and clinical collaborators to facilitate translational research

This transdisciplinary position is designed for a researcher capable of bridging?networks, feedbacks, and emergence?across human, institutional, and physical systems. The ideal candidate will work with undergraduate students and faculty to analyze complexity across domains—from social and political systems to cities, ecosystems, and digital infrastructures—through both modeling and ethical inquiry.

Key Responsibilities:


	Guide student teams working on complex, interconnected systems across domains such as urban development, social behavior, strategic governance, education, migration, or resilience.
	Introduce and apply tools such as agent-based modeling (ABM), system dynamics, network analysis, game theory, and scenario planning.
	Facilitate modeling of feedback loops, adaptation, emergence, and collective behavior in real-world cases.
	Co-develop teaching modules and interactive simulations that explore decision-making, value trade-offs, and policy implications in complex environments.
	Support data-driven inquiry using large-scale datasets (social, geospatial, behavioral) and integrate empirical insights with theoretical models.
	Mentor students in producing publishable research, prototypes, and policy-relevant analysis grounded in complexity theory.
	Publish research and co-author student-led publications resulting from WiP investigations.
	Contribute to applied research motivated by the WiP investigations.


Required Qualifications:


	Ph.D. in Complex Systems Science, Computational Social Science, Applied Mathematics, Urban Systems, Network Science, Political Economy, or a related field.
	Demonstrated experience with computational modeling of complex adaptive systems (e.g., NetLogo, Repast, Python/ABM libraries, system dynamics tools).
	Familiarity with interdisciplinary modeling frameworks that integrate quantitative and qualitative dimensions of complex problems.
	Proven interest in education and student mentoring, particularly in open-ended, project-based settings.


Desirable Qualifications (at least two of the following):


	Experience in social data science (social networks, large-scale behavior, demographic/mobility data).
	Background in urban or regional systems modeling (e.g., housing, transport, energy, equity).
	Exposure to institutional design, governance, or public decision-making under complexity.
