Al-Yarmouk University College was officially established in 1996 as a private institution licensed by Iraq¡¯s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Today, it is one of the leading private colleges in the country, offering undergraduate programmes in a variety of academic disciplines and continuing to expand its academic reach.
The college¡¯s main campus is located in Baqubah, the capital of Diyala Governorate in eastern Iraq, with additional medical departments operating out of Baghdad.
When the college first opened, it offered a small number of programmes focused on legal and linguistic studies. Since then, it has expanded to include nine academic departments: Department of Dentistry, Department of Pharmacy, Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques, Department of Law, Department of Arabic Language, Department of English Language, Department of Computer Engineering Techniques, Department of Interior Design Techniques, and the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. Programmes typically span three to five years, and courses are primarily delivered in Arabic.
In addition to its academic departments, the college also publishes the Al-Yarmouk Journal, a bilingual, peer-reviewed academic journal that has been in circulation since 2002. The journal covers a range of fields from medical and pharmaceutical sciences to law and computer science.
