More than a quarter of part-timers responding to the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey, published on 4聽September, say they do not have frequent opportunities to discuss their research with peers.

This compares with 16聽per cent among full-time students.

Part-timers are also less likely to feel that their faculty鈥檚 鈥渞esearch ambience鈥 stimulates their work or that their department provides a good seminar programme.

The results could reflect that such students are more likely to be distance learners and less likely to spend time in their departments, the report says.
